The Concert is an afternoon of celebration, awareness building, and community solidarity. As a way to open Youth Month 2024, it aims to bring together Cape Town's civil society to call for systemic change as a pathway to address climate change and related social injustices, whilst celebrating the good work already being done.

PERFORMING ARTISTS

KUJENGA

Kujenga is a Black improvised music outfit based in Cape Town. The band’s name comes from the Swahili language, with the word meaning “to build.” The title symbolises the group’s belief in their calling as creators: to build meaningful experiences and connections with every listener. Kujenga follows on from the rich legacy of Black band music in South Africa, with the ensemble representing the present and future of this historic sound.

ETHNIK

ethnik is a dynamic and versatile vocalist and guitar duo, known for delivering captivating performances that blend soulful vocals with intricate guitar melodies. With a diverse repertoire spanning genres such as pop, rock, gospel, jazz, folk, and acoustic covers of contemporary hits, we bring a unique and unforgettable musical experience at every event.

SOULITUDE AND FRIENDS

Monwabisi "Soulitude" Dasi is a cultural activist. To create and communicate is his mission and purpose on earth. Soulitude is not alone, he brings with him Dan Boshoff, Bonolo Nkoane, and four backing vocalists. Coming together from across the Peninsula, they bring you a rich combination of Jazz, funk, Storytelling, Rhythm, Soul and Poetry. Together they are called Soulitude and Friends

SOUNDZ OF THE SOUTH

Soundz of the South is a political Hiphop collective working to build an international working-class counter-culture that is anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, and anti-sexist. As a band, they seek to foster new social values and new forms of collective organising, which will become the socio-political infrastructure of the free society.
